In my multidirectional search for a college, I looked at some in my state to see what their education programs were like. I wanted something about education so that I could homeschool. This is what turned me away, though I didn't put it in those terms at the time. I didn't want to learn how to control a classroom when I planned to teach at home! Later I discovered the classical liberal arts... :-) Then I learned the better reason for learning content instead of method!

Thanks for sharing.

I would certainly be open to suggestions. If I have enough info on the topic, I would be glad to share.

I don't know how open you are to my own suggested topics, but as a resident of Florida, I'd cerainly be interested in reading more of your thoughts on the current elections in our state.

Perhaps your students, also possible voters here, would be as well.

If you are using "sick" metaphorically, I agree wholeheartedly. I just want to be sure we recognize that homosexuality is a choice, not a disease.

It is an important issue.

But it is a symptom of what is wrong, not a cause.

Until we get people to believe that, the situation will not get better.

You can not punish people for being sick.

You have to tackle the cause of the disease.

Interesting stuff. I've heard some discussion about the Article III argument, but that's the first I've heard of the Article I challenge. I also never quite thought of the "racial profiling" hypocrisy that the first cartoon illustrates. It's amazing how little this administration seems to know (or wants to know) about Constitutional law.

I saw yesterday an interview with Daniels that shows he is a Christian, but he is one of those who apparently thinks it would be inappropriate to be too up front about it in his politics. While I understand that as a politician and an officeholder, one must govern all the people and find as much common ground as possible, if it ever comes as a surprise that an officeholder is a Christian, I have to wonder what brand of Christianity that person possesses. Is it genuine?

Thanks for your good comments.

I recently wrote a piece on The Pearcey Report about Mitch Daniels and his so-called “truce” on the social issues. Pearcey’s book, Total Truth, explores in detail the dichotomy of which you speak (it is the very focus of the book), and is an excellent resource.

In the world of politics, if one believes in the “right” to end the life of an unborn infant or sanctions the marriage of gays, for example, the person is, in essence, affirming that in the battle of God vs. Man, Man is in control. In abortion, they are saying that they, and not God, created the baby’s life, and they have the “right” to end it. In gay marriage, they are saying that they, and not God, created the covenant of marriage. These single issues cannot be compartmentalized into the closet of one’s personal beliefs, for they testify to the foundation of one’s worldview.

In my opinion, a politician’s beliefs on either of those issues reveal his true feelings on the roles of God, man, and government—either our rights come from our Creator, or they come from the government. If this makes me a single-issue voter, I will proudly wear the label. Politicians like Daniels make a huge mistake when they buy into society's forced and artificial dichotomy.
